So let's take a look at this carry. The XTC2 TILT bike carrier is a frame mount carrier. So a frame mount is gonna make contact with your frame as well as locking down onto your wheels on the front and rear. In this particular setup, they're using straps and cradles. If you have a carbon fiber bike, a bike with a nice paint job that you don't want contact or any type of unconventional frame, like a step-through bike, this isn't gonna be the best option for you. more

So, the AfterParty is a wheel-mounted bike carrier, and what's really cool about that is the fact that it does not make contact with your bike's frame. This is gonna be more for your person that has either a carbon fiber bike or a bike that has a fancy paint job, step through bike, something with an unconventional frame. Because you make contact on the front and rear wheel and there's no need to secure your bike by the frame, it leaves it wide open to many types of bikes. As far as what it will support, your weight can go all the way up to 60 pounds per bike. Your wheel base can be supported up to 55 inches. more

Good morning neighbors. This is Ed here with etrailer.com and we're taking a look at our Hollywood Racks Destination four bike carrier on the back of our 2023 Jeep Wagoneer L. So the Destination is a four bike carrier that is a frame mount style. On the frame mount, you're gonna have a center mast that makes contact with your frame as well as two straps that secure your front and rear wheel. If you have a carbon fiber bike or a bike that's a step through frame or maybe even a kid's bike, generally these guys aren't the best options. Going with a wheel mount carrier may work well, but if you have a bike that's 35 pounds and under and a maximum wheel base of 48 inches, this guy will work for you. more

All right, so the NV is actually a really good carrier for a person that's looking for a wheel mounted carrier. So a little bit of explanation on wheel mounted is that's how your bike in secured, is by making contact with only the wheel and nowhere on the frame. So if you have a carbon fiber frame, a nice paint job or unconventional frame, like a step through bike, wheel mount is generally gonna be a great option to secure your bike without making contact. So the Kuat has really easy controls, it's very premium carrier, and you can tell that from interacting with it. It makes it really easy to move things around. more

Now this gonna be a great option for you if you need to haul a variety of different types of bikes being from your carbon frame to your heavy E-bikes and you wanna do it safely having your built in lights installed too. What's gonna give it that ability to hold your carbon and alternative frame bikes is gonna be this dual wheel mount system we have on here and that's just gonna ratchet onto each tire and we're not gonna get any of that frame contact. Hi Matt with etrailer and today, we're gonna talk about our Yakima full tilt bike rack on our 2023 Jeep Wagoneer L. Now this is gonna be a great option for you if you wanna haul a lot of bikes, especially since this is a larger vehicle and you'll be able to take a lot of people with you to go out riding. So the way our bike's gonna sit on here, we're gonna have three points of contact. We're gonna have one of these zip straps that connect to the rear of the frame, and then we're gonna have two up top, and our frame's also gonna rest on these two arms. Now since we are making frame contact, I wouldn't recommend using any alternative or carbon frame bikes on here. But if you do have an alternative frame bike, you can still put it up here, you'll just need a bike adapter bar, and the way it's just gonna sit up here is just like this. more

How's it going neighbors This is Ed here taking a look at our Hollywood Racks Destination four bike carrier on the back of our 2023 Thor Challenger. So the Destination is a four bike carrier that is a frame mount, so it's gonna make contact with the frame of your vehicle. Specifically looking at the Thor Challenger, I would only suggest using this guy if you're going to use a hitch extender because of how close your bike comes to your carrier. I mean how close your bike comes to your vehicle. It like physically right here with my bike here, my handlebars are making contact. Again, with it being a frame mount carrier and making contact with your the frame of your bike, it wouldn't be the best option if you have a unconventional frame or a carbon fiber bike, you know, that's just not what you're gonna hunt for. more

Saris MHS 2 Bike Rack Review - 2023 Thor Challenger Motorhome- Video
How's it going neighbors This is Ed here with etrailer.com and we're taking a look at our Saris MHS on the back of the 2023 Thor Challenger. So the MHS is a wheel mounted carrier, and so what that does for you, it actually secures your bike without making any contact to your frame. You have two cradles that are gonna ratchet down over your wheels and you have a single strap that holds your rear wheel in place. There's also a built in chalk to help secure your bike. So overall, if you have a type of bike, like I would say maybe a step through bike or a carbon fiber frame bike, a carrier like this would be the best option for you due to the fact that it makes no contact. So as you see, we are super close on the outside cradle and I wouldn't think it would be possible for most cases to fit a second bike in and still clear the vehicle, 'cause I would say we're maybe about six inches away from there with our bike. more

The Piston SR is actually a wheel mount carrier, essentially making contact with your bike and securing it from the wheels. It makes two points of contact on the front and rear. Essentially what this is for, is this is gonna be for the person that has a unconventional frame, or a carbon fiber frame, nice paint job. Anything where you don't either can't, or don't want to make contact with the frame of the bike, that's gonna be your best option. As far as your clamps here, these guys are gonna go between 29 and 20 inches as far as a wheel diameter, and it can adjust for a fender as well. more

Hi, neighbor, this is Ed here, giving you a review, a little look at our Kuat Transfer V2 on the 2022 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport. So let's take a look at this guy. So the, the Transfer V2 is actually a wheel mount bike carrier that's going to work out well for a variety of different styles of bikes. If you have a carbon frame, a carbon fiber frame, or if you have a unconventional frame, like a step through, or a lady's bike, you know, this would work 'cause since the mounting points is the front and rear wheel, it can work across the board on all of those things. Really handy as far as the way that you set this guy up, it's just a ratcheting system where you put the weight down on your front tire, and on your rear wheel, you just use a little ratchet strap to secure it. This guy can support bikes up to 40 pounds per bike, and support a wheel width of up to three inches. more

How's it going This is Ed here with etrailer.com and we're taking a look at the Swagman E-SPEC Electric Bike Carrier on the 2022 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport. So the E-SPEC is a frame-mounted bike carrier. This guy's gonna make contact with the frame. If you have a carbon fiber bike or a step-through bike, or a different style frame, it may not be the best option, a wheel-mounted carrier is maybe where I would guide you, but if you're okay with that contact, this is gonna be one of your three points of contact. You're gonna have a cradle with a strap on the front and rear wheel, that will support a wheel up to three inches wide if you want, I mean, well, if you have fat tires, you can add a cradle that will go up to five inches. Something to take notice of is also with the E-SPEC, it doesn't tilt so you can access your cargo area, when the bikes are loaded to it, but that is what also gives you the stability to maintain the 70-pound rating on an RV or SUV or car. more

So that's kind of a huge plus with it. All right, so why would you want to go with a wheel mount bike carrier So if you have a bike that is a carbon frame, or if you have something that's a fancier paint job, or something where you just don't want contact to the actual structure of your bike, a wheel mount carrier is gonna be a great option for you. Now, as far as the type of dimensions we're looking at as far as your wheel, up to 29 inches, as well as being able to support bikes that have fenders on the lower position. As far as the adjustment bar here, it's tool-free, so you'd be able to just squeeze these two knobs on the side here and make adjustments going down the pins. That's another really cool feature on the Piston Pro. more

Alright, now this guy here is a wheel mount bike carrier and you may want to know why you would want a wheel mount carrier. So if you have a carbon fiber frame or a bike that is, has a fancy paint job or a unconventional bike, like a step through, a wheel mount carrier is gonna be a good option because it doesn't make any frame contact. And as far as the cradle, it can support up to three inches. So your fat tire bikes won't work, but as far as your diameter, you can go up to 29 inches and down to 20 inches. I also can support bikes that have fenders just by mounting to the wheel at a lower point. more

All right, now this guy can support bikes up to 60 pounds per bike, and one of the really cool features of it is the fact that not only does it tilt away, it also tilts out, well, opens out, so you can access the rear of your vehicle without having to take your bikes off. Now, the AfterParty, this guy is gonna be a wheel mount bike carrier. Now why would you need a wheel mount carrier If you have a bike that's has carbon fiber in the frame or unconventional style, a wheel mount's gonna be the best way to secure your bike to your carrier, because it makes no contact to the frame and all this area wouldn't matter as far as, you know, maybe a frame mount style bike carrier. You can make adjustments as far as the different wheel size. And as far as your tilt feature, underneath here, there's a blue handle. more

How's it going This is Ed here and we're takin' a look at the Saris MHS on the back of the 2022 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport. Well, the MHS is a solid bike carrier for you if you have two heavier e-bikes. It can support the weight of up to 80 pounds per bike and, as far as your wheel mounts, these guys are adjustable and they can support wheels up to a sizes between 20 inches and 29 inches using the tool free adjustment bar here and it also support a bike with a fender in the lower position where it would clear your fender. As far as the style of carrier, this is what's called a wheel mount carrier. Basically what that is is no contact to your frame. This is gonna work for any style of bike, but it's usually gonna be for a person that has a carbon frame or a type of frame where they don't want any contact from the carrier. more

How's it going, this is Ed here with etrailer.com, and we're taking a look at the Hollywood Racks Destination four-bike carrier on the 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The Destination is a four-bike platform carrier, and as far as being a carrier, is one of the better values to move four bikes. It is a frame mount where you're gonna have contact with your bike's frame, and then you have two straps along with the cradles that are gonna tie down to keep your wheels and everything stable. As far as how close you get to the vehicle with the bike on the closest position, you can kind of see with my handlebar here, I'm pretty close. Rocking it right here, I wouldn't be worried about it making contact, but it's something to definitely consider when you're making your purchase as far as the length of your handlebars. So when it comes to bike racks on your truck, you've got options. You can always go with the tailgate pad, but sometimes it's just not feasible. If you've got a tonneau cover or a bed full of stuff, then the hitch is the best place to go after that. And especially with this one that we're looking at today, being a 1-bike rack, if it's just you, then why bother with a tailgate pad Even on the smaller sizes, they can accommodate up to two bikes and will take up almost half your tailgate, sometimes blocking things like your backup camera. more

But let's say you've got a tonneau cover on your Tacoma or the bed's just full with some other stuff, a hitch mounted a rack is probably the next best place to go in my opinion. more

How's it going today This is Ed here with etrailer.com, and we're taking a look at the Yakima Ridgeback four-bike carrier on the 2021 Nissan Murano. The Ridgeback is a four-bike carrier, also available in a five. As far as the four-bike configuration, that's gonna rate 40 pounds per bike. As far as the type of person this bike carrier would work for, it's gonna be someone that's not particularly worried about contact with the frame, 'cause that's how it's suspended. As far as on the rear of the vehicle, you can see that it's gonna obstruct basically everything as far as your tail lights, license plate, backup camera, and a portion of your back window. So, something to keep in mind. more

Hollywood Racks Destination E Bike Rack Review - 2021 Nissan Murano- Video
How you doing This is Ed here at etrailer.com and we're taking a look at the Hollywood Racks Destination E Bike Carrier on the 2021 Nissan Murano. Now the Destination is a solid bike carrier for your E-bikes, that weigh up to 70 pounds each. As far as your contacts, you have on the rear wheel, a single strap, the front wheel, you have two straps, and a center mast clamp that makes contact with the frame. If you have a carbon fiber bike or something with a special paint job, you definitely don't wanna go with something that's gonna make this kind of contact, however, we do offer cradle mount options. So as far as clearance on the rear of the vehicle in the upright position, the bike carrier will affect your backup sensors as well as your backup camera and license plate. It looks like the tires also will be obscured, you know, well, no, it looks pretty good as far as clearing the back of your tail lights, but depending on your bike, you may still have interference as far as seeing from your handlebar, so that will vary from your style bike. more

Swagman XC2 2 Bike Rack Review - 2021 Nissan Murano- Video
How's it going This is Ed here with etrailer.com, and we're taking a look at the Swagman XC2 Two Bike Carrier on the 21 Nissan Murano. Now, this guy is constructed of powder coated field, and also has a padded hook. On the bottom you're gonna have adjustable wheel loops, so it's gonna accommodate different wheel bases. Now, with this guy being rated at 35 pounds per bike, it wouldn't be the best option if you have a heavier bike like an e-bike. But if you have a road bike or mountain bike, that would be great for it. Also to consider is, if you have a carbon fiber bike or something with a nice paint job, the way that the bike is secured is making contact with the frame. more

RockyMounts MonoRail 2 Bike Rack Review - 2021 Nissan Murano- Video
Hi, this is Ed here with etrailer.com and we're gonna take a look at the RockyMounts MonoRail on the 2021 Nissan Murano. On the MonoRail, this is actually a wheel mount bike carrier, so you're only gonna have two points of contact on the bike. It's gonna have the front wheel and the rear wheel in this cradle here. So if you have a bike frame that's carbon fiber or something that's has a fancier paint job, you know, this is gonna be one of the better options for that. Alright, one of the really cool features about this guy is the tilting feature. Down here you're gonna have a blue handle that's gonna allow you to lower the MonoRail down so you can access your hatch. more

Hi, everyone, Aiden here with etrailer. Today, we're gonna be taking a look at the Yakima FullTilt Hanging-Style Bike Rack and seeing how it fits on the back of our 2024 Buick Enclave. Now this is going to be a more premium option as far as hanging-style racks go. It's got a lot of nice convenience features and allows you to carry up to five bikes. So I recommend this for families, because even though it can fit five bikes, five adult bikes is gonna be hard. But if you have kids' bikes in the mix, then that's gonna be a lot easier to make them fit and abide by the weight capacity, which is up to 150 pounds total. more

Hi everyone, Aiden here with etrailer. Today we're gonna be taking a look at the Hollywood Racks Destination, and seeing how it fits on the back of our 2024 Buick Enclave. Now the Destination is gonna be a platform-style bike rack and this version of it can carry up to four bikes. If you don't need that kind of capacity, they do make one of this that can carry only two bikes and it's gonna be pretty much the same thing, just shorter. But this is gonna be a really solid option for an entry-level bike rack because it's a pretty good value option and it offers a lot for the price. So it can carry a bike up to 35 pounds, which, for most, it's gonna be more than fine. more

Kuat Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2024 Buick Enclave- Video
Hi, everyone. Aiden here at etrailer. Today, we're gonna be taking a look at the Kuat NV Base Platform-Style Bike Rack and seeing how it fits on the back of our 2024 Buick Enclave. Now, this is gonna be a really nice introduction into the world of premium-style bike racks, and it's one of my own personal favorites. It strikes a nice balance between ease of use and looking just very minimal and sleek. So the NV can support a 60-pound bike, so you can maybe hold some of your e-bikes and it's gonna hold the bike primarily by our front tire, which means no frame contact, making this a good option for carbon frame and alternative frame bikes. more

Today we'll be talking about the Saris Freedom Bike Rack on the 2023 Nissan Rouge Now this is gonna be a great option for you if you need haul any heavy e-bikes or if you're looking for something that's gonna be economical and you want to ride maybe by yourself or with a friend. Let's take a closer look at it now. As for how it's gonna mount, we're gonna have this pretty heavy duty clamp and that's gonna have the ability to adjust, so you're gonna be able to fit a lot of alternative frame bikes on here. We're gonna have two additional mounting points, one in each tire, but since we are making frame contact, I wouldn't recommend using any carbon frame bikes. Now the top of our wheels won't be obstructed though, so you'll be able to haul a lot of fender bikes. more

Now this is gonna be a great premium rack if you're looking for something that's gonna be able to haul a lot of bikes, that being your carbon or alternative frame, and even your heavy E-bikes in some cases. Now let's take a closer look at it. So we're gonna have two points of contact and that's gonna be using this dual wheel mount system. It's gonna be a very nice design and it's gonna hold your bikes very securely, only making contact with your wheels, and that's what's gonna give that ability to accommodate those alternative or carbon frame bikes. And then we're gonna have this kind of clamp strap contraption that connects to our frame using this padded point here and the straps that wraps around it.
